Look at this! I don't know how long it's going to last, but considering it came out today I'm tentatively very pleased.

How cool is that?

H&V: The Wedding book cover I love this cover so much, even if it is WAY too adorable for the subject matter. I kind of regret that I'm probably going to end up changing the cover to something else... well, that depends on sales.

Still, I don't want to confuse people as to the subject matter with this cover. An NC-17 novella that's actually pretty serious, paired with an adorable little guy in a hat...

Title: Bastian
Author: Harper Kingsley
Genre: m/m romance

This is what I'm currently working on. It's already sketched out, and now I'm just filling in the details. I'm pretty involved with this story :)

Attempting to edit a wedding scene. I want a healthy view of what's going on, but I don't want a major overload of description.

I've been to a couple of weddings, but I've never been one of those girly-girls that plans out their wedding from the time they're five years old.

So far: "Canon in D" for the wedding march, an outdoor wedding, a super-scientist presiding, delicious 5-star food, and a bunch of bitchy superheroes.

The wedding scene is killing me... But I threw in a hopefully steamy "oh God we're going to die" sex scene between a couple of D-listers. I've also got a killer alien menace set on absorbing the entire LoS headquarters and everyone inside.

I might have decided to throw this project on the back-burner for a couple of days, except I've gotta get this done before the end of the month. Otherwise I have to make a bunch of apologies and I'll feel like a total jerk :(

Title: Pulse of the City
Author: Harper Kingsley
Rating: PG/PG-13
Summary: Susie Smith has no idea where she came from or who she used to be. Even her name is one she was given at the hospital where she woke up after a serious brain injury. The only thing she knows about herself is that she was caught in a super battle and was just one more of the collateral victims of Malice’s attack on the Megalopolous parade. One among hundreds of wounded people, no one stepped forward to claim her and she was eventually shuffled off into foster care.

Then, hanging out with her friends, the mall is attacked and she runs into the Teen Demis for the first time. And they seem to know her...

I don't even know what to do. People have bought the hell out of "Shame" and I just worry that people are using it as a sample of my work and that's what they're going to think everything I write is like ::sigh::

"Shame" is written in a--for me--experimental minimalist style. There was so much more description and mood I could have added to the piece, but I was playing around with the idea of letting the reader fill in the detail.

Idk, I like to think that my regular writing style is more fluid, less jerky. I try to imagine that I'm crafting a long, lyrical song, where every setting description is its own note to add together with the rest to create a lovely bit of music. And in that situation, "Shame" is a jarring piece of noise. Interesting, maybe a bit fascinating, but definitely not the norm.
